Welcome!
Welcome
to the historic Mother Lode. Sonora and Columbia were founded during
California's Gold Rush and Sonora was once the most
violent town in the Gold Country. Today the sleepy little towns
thrive on tourism, agriculture and the lumber industry. We hope you
enjoy your stay!
Weather
The
elevation in this region varies from 900 ft.-8000 ft., thus the
weather conditions can have a wide span. The weather in Sonora ranges
from 40 deg. to the upper 90s regularly in the summer time. During
the winter you can expect a temperature range from the low 50s to the
20s and 30s. The region east of Sonora (Twain Harte) may even receive
some snow due to the elevation. Sometimes the eastern roads are
difficult to pass through or may even be closed due to weather
conditions. The rest of the year is some mix in between. Our rainy
season extends November through April.
Outdoor
Activities
Yosemite
Sonora
is an hour-and-a-half away from one of the most spectacular National
Parks in the country! If you only have a day, stay in Yosemite Valley
and see Half Dome, El Capitan and the many Falls. Short day hikes
will take you to Vernal and Nevada Falls or up to the top of Yosemite
Falls. If you want to camp or ski, reservations are advised, there is
a 24 hour recorded message with general park information and road
conditions (especially important during the winter). Ph:
